From 01 May 2015, Eurostar will start a year-round direct service to Lyon, Avignon and Marseille up to five times a week. Tickets are currently on sale for the service, which allows passengers to travel from the centre of London or Ashford to Lyon in under five hours from £89 return, Avignon in under six hours from £99 return and Marseille Saint-Charles in just over six from £99 return.
Eurostar celebrated the opening of this route by converting one of its carriages into a Provencal lavender field at St Pancras Station. Eurostar are aiming to make travel as seamless as possible, as customers have no need to change on the outbound journey and no longer need to arrive 30 minutes before their departure. Going back to the UK, check-in, security and immigration checks will be undertaken at Lille, with staff on hand to guide passengers through the process. In preparation for this, Lille has undergone a refurbishment and extension in order to better accommodate for the passengers.
Eurostar are also allowing adults to take two pieces of luggage on board with them as well as a smaller bag. Bags within 85cm in length are now given no weight restrictions. Those with a child ticket can take one bag which will also have no restrictions if within 85cm in length and a smaller item of luggage.
Eurostar are pleased to offer an effortless and convenient year-round journey to bring the UK and the South of France closer together.more news...
